Microneedling with radiofrequency utilizes sterile ultrathin gold needles that penetrate tissue to a specific depth below the skin surface. The gold needles transmit electrical energy that stimulates your body’s natural healing process. Precise delivery of energy at precise depths with little or no pain associated with the treatment. Our office has the latest microneedling radiofrequency device called VirtueRF. This is the latest microneedling – radiofrequency technology that uses 36 gold-coated needles on a robotic handpiece to precisely deliver energy relatively painlessly at specified depths. The amount of energy that is delivered is also customized to your specific skin thickness and skin type. The procedure is performed by Dr. Kopelman or our experienced cosmetic nurse. Before the procedure begins we cleanse your skin and then apply a numbing gel to the treatment area for approximately twenty minutes. The microneedling procedure itself takes about 15 to 30 minutes depending on the area on your skin being treated. After your microneedling treatment is completed a unique microcurrent dual face-mask is applied to your face which will immediately soothe your skin. This is a two step post-treatment routine. First, a wet face mask is applied that is infused with antioxidants , vitamins, and anti-inflammatory properties. After a few minutes a second dry unique microcurrent mask is applied over the wet mask which allows sodium hyaluronate, aloe vera and caffeine antioxidants to penetrate deeper into the skin. This regimen will optimize post-treatment healing and reduce post-treatment inflammation. We recommend a minimum of 3 treatments over the course of three months and after each treatment you will see incremental improvement in the appearance of your skin.
Most patients experience a post treatment glow, a sense of firmness to the skin, and mild redness for a few hours but our post-treatment regimen will accelerate the resolution of the redness. Refrain from applying any make-up for 24hrs.
We recommend that all of our patients stop aspirin and Retin-a products a week before the procedure. Do not apply any ointments or sunscreen the day of the procedure. Additionally if you have a history of cold sores, please notify our office so that we can prescribe you Valtrex to prevent a breakout.
Your skin at this stage will be sensitive to the sun, therefore we will recommend daily use of sunscreen and no makeup for 24 hours. Dr. Kopelman will recommend a daily hydrating topical cream to further rejuvenate your skin.
Most of our patients though return to their normal routines immediately after the procedure. Over your next series of treatments you might have a slight dryness to your skin but then your skin will begin to feel and look rejuvenated.
Microneedling RF is more than traditional microneedling, delivering both heat therapy and subdermal repair at the same time.
