Dr. Joel Kopelman
OCULOPLASTIC SURGEON
Because the incisions are smaller and the tissue manipulation is less extensive, the mini lift serves as an excellent alternative to a traditional SME Facelift or a Deep Plane Facelift, especially for patients who do not have extreme degrees of skin or muscle laxity along their jawline and neck or a significant loss of mid-facial fullness.
This facelift technique can make patients look 5 to 10+ years younger, rejuvenating their appearance and confidence. It falls between injectable fillers like BOTOX and Restylane and a more invasive, traditional facelift in New York, offering a meaningful lift without the scope of a full surgical procedure.
The cost of this procedure in New York City depends on several factors, including the extent of correction needed, whether it is combined with other treatments, such as eyelid surgery or a neck lift, and the type of anesthesia used.
Because the short scar technique typically requires only local anesthesia and avoids the need for a hospital facility, it is generally more affordable than a traditional facelift in New York. Patients can often save thousands of dollars compared to a full surgical procedure.
Dr. Kopelman provides personalized pricing during your consultation after evaluating your goals and anatomy. His office can also discuss financing options to help make the procedure accessible. To schedule a consultation and receive a customized quote, contact the office directly.
The best candidates for a mini facelift in New York are patients who are beginning to notice early signs of facial aging but do not yet need the full correction that a traditional facelift provides.
You may be a strong candidate if you:
During your consultation, Dr. Kopelman will evaluate your facial structure, skin quality and goals to determine whether a mini facelift or a more comprehensive procedure is the right fit.
Patients with more advanced aging, significant neck laxity, or deep volume loss may benefit more from a traditional or deep plane facelift instead. He will also review your medical history and answer your questions.
This procedure requires mild sedation and local anesthesia. Dr. Kopelman is meticulous about where he places the incision. He makes a small incision symmetrically along the front of both ears, hidden in the natural creases, and from there he strengthens and elevates the facial muscles or removes lax skin. In time, the scars are barely visible.
The procedure typically takes about two to three hours to complete. To achieve the most natural-looking results, Dr. Kopelman often combines the mini lift with other cosmetic procedures (non-surgical and surgical), such as eyelid surgery (eyelid lift), brow lift, neck lift, lip lift, or cosmetic injections.
By pairing the facelift with complementary treatments, Dr. Kopelman can address multiple areas of concern in a single session, reducing overall downtime and delivering a more complete rejuvenation.

Had a consultation visit with Dr Kopelman yesterday to discuss possible upper & lower eyelid surgery. Had a good consult and felt the Doctor was quite knowledgeable. He listened to my concerns and goals and was quite upfront about what he could do and what my expectations were. This was an initial consultation and I have seen a few other surgeons prior to this consult and have one more to go next week. So I haven't made any final decisions yet. Only downside for me personally is that the ambulatory center he uses is in Bergen County, NJ - I live in Queens and that might be a bit cumbersome to get to and from for me. I found his proposal a bit higher then the others I secured insofar as price but that is neither here nor there His demeanor, manners and knowledge were very good and I enjoyed the consultation experience with Dr Kopelman I have no further experience to share at this point Robert SPosted on Google![]()

I cannot express how grateful I am to have found Dr. Kopelman. After countless failed attempts at getting real help for my scalp and hair thinning, I felt defeated. I live in an area that doesn’t truly cater to ethnic or textured hair, so finding someone who understood my concerns felt almost impossible. After doing extensive research on specialists experienced with African American hair, I discovered Dr. Kopelman and I’m so glad I did. From the moment I met him, he provided a clear, thorough, and compassionate explanation of what was happening with my hair. For the first time, I felt seen, understood, and taken seriously. He created a personalized treatment plan specifically tailored to my needs and even prescribed medications to address the root cause. Walking out of his office, I felt genuine relief. Instead of hearing the usual “there’s nothing we can do,” I finally had answers, a plan, and hope. If you’re struggling with hair loss or scalp issues and want a doctor who truly understands ethnic hair and takes the time to guide you, I highly recommend Dr. Kopelman. His expertise, kindness, and clarity make all the difference.Posted on Google![]()

Dr. Kopelman 10/10: I was seeing an ophthalmologist weekly for months to take care of an eye issue I was having. When they couldn’t help me anymore, they told me to find an ocular plastic surgeon. After doing my research, I found Dr. Kopelman who is not only a top plastic surgeon, but has the ocular speciality I was looking for. Right when he saw me at our consultation, he immediately knew I needed a CT scan. He couldn’t believe any other doctor let this situation go on for this long. Dr Kopelman sat there for hours finding me the proper place to get my CT scan, along with making dozens of calls to my insurance company arguing with them on my behalf. He went above and beyond. Not even a week later, I was in his chair getting an orbital tumor removed! He made me so comfortable and the process was seriously so quick and painless. I did not bruise or swell at all. I went back a week later to get my stitches removed, which was also extremely quick and painless. It looked as if I scratched myself- not that anyone performed surgery on my face. There isn’t even a scar. That being said- Dr. Kopelman (and Kiki) had the best bedside manner, where so attentive, and just all around amazing. If I ever need a surgeon again, this is where you will find me. I truly can not thank this office enough.Posted on Google![]()

— COMMON QUESTIONS
Dr. Kopelman will review your medical history and the prescription and non-prescription medications you may be taking.
You must stop all blood thinners at least two weeks before surgery to minimize bleeding and post-operative bruising and swelling.
If you smoke, you must refrain from smoking for two weeks before surgery because it may negatively affect the outcome of your healing process.
Avoiding strenuous activity and excessive sun exposure is also necessary to achieve that more youthful appearance you’re looking for.
Dr. Kopelman will review the surgical options available to you and answer any questions you may have. Prior to surgery, you will be able to meet with our caring nursing staff that will be part of your team. A mini-facelift is usually performed under local anesthesia with intravenous “twilight’” sedation.
The procedure takes approximately two hours. The goal of a mini facelift is to reposition sagging soft tissue through a short incision. Fat below your chin and neck will be recontoured with liposuction. Underlying sagging muscle will be tightened, and excess skin will be trimmed. Fine sutures will be hidden within your natural creases around your ears.
The facelift recovery procedure starts after the surgery, a gauze dressing will be applied under your chin and in front of your ears. These dressings will be removed the next day. Some swelling and bruising are expected following surgery.
This usually resolves rapidly over an approximately one to two-week period. Side effects of a mini-facelift can be minimized by avoiding any blood thinners prior to surgery. Most patients typically experience little or no discomfort, but if there is any, it is easily controlled with over-the-counter pain medication.
You will be examined by Dr. Kopelman and his nursing staff the next morning. Sutures will be removed in 5 to 7 days following the mini facelift surgery. You can resume your daily activities within one week and your exercise routine within two weeks.
Incisional scars will be hidden in the natural creases of your face and ears and in time they will be barely visible. To ensure that you have the best possible results, Dr. Kopelman will examine you at regularly scheduled intervals to monitor your progress. Most patients return to work about 7 to 10 days after the mini facelift surgery.
Cosmetic surgery will “turn back the clock,” but you will continue to age. Each individual ages at a different pace, so it is difficult to predict how long the benefits of a mini facelift will last. On average, most people derive between five and ten years of benefit from a mini facelift.
A mini facelift procedure in the Manhattan, New York, area can cost between $45,000 and $80,000, depending on the extent of the procedure, the surgeon’s experience, the facility’s location, and any additional services or treatments included in the package.
