Microdermabrasionin New York City

Microdermabrasion is a quick, painless exfoliating facial that uses tiny aluminum oxide crystals to lift away the outer layer of skin. A session at our Park Avenue office takes about thirty minutes, requires no recovery time, and most patients see the best results after a series of six to eight visits spaced two to four weeks apart.

The crystals rapidly remove the superficial layer of skin, the epidermis, and accelerate the shedding of dull, dead cells. The result is rejuvenated skin that looks more radiant, with a smoother, more toned texture. This microdermabrasion treatment requires limited downtime.

It is a well-established nonsurgical option for oily skin, fine lines, ongoing acne, acne scars, and pigment irregularities. Part of the benefit comes afterward; once dead cells are exfoliated, moisturizers and topical acne medications absorb far more effectively.

Microdermabrasion Procedure

Microdermabrasion treatments are customized for each individual’s needs. At Dr. Kopelman’s office a typical session will only take half an hour, although this time may vary depending on the specific skin concerns addressed. Microdermabrasion facials tend to be extremely gentle, and can even be used in sensitive areas like around the mouth and eyes.
During your treatment, Dr. Kopelman will slide over your skin with a microdermabrasion hand-piece that combines a variable-level vacuum with sterile tips for the best possible results. There may be some temporary red flush in the area of treatment depending upon the depth of treatment needed. This redness will subside quickly. Sometimes we use a light glycolic acid peel to further enhance the results. Following your treatment, we will apply cool compresses to your skin and Dr. Kopelman will recommend using a skin moisturizer to achieve the best result. A microdermabrasion is a same day procedure so you should be able to resume your normal activities for the day after your treatment.
