Male Blepharoplastyin New York City

A male blepharoplasty is eyelid surgery that removes excess skin, wrinkles, and fatty deposits around the eyelids. Male eyelid surgery is a very popular procedure amongst men from the ages 30 to 70 to give them a more alert, youthful, and masculine appearance.
Overhanging upper eyelid skin and bulging lower eyelid fat pads convey a tired fatigued appearance. Male cosmetic eyelid surgery can have a profound effect on a man’s overall facial appearance and can provide a new sense of confidence in social and business settings.

Male Eyelid Lift Procedure

The surgical goals for male eyelid surgery differ in some respects from female patients. Men typically want to achieve a natural unoperated masculine appearance. Dr. Kopelman has the knowledge, experience and technique to avoid effeminizing your upper eyelid. Meticulous pre-operative planning is the first key step that will ultmately preserve desirable masculine upper eyelid characteristics.

Dr. Kopelman preoperatively measures the dimensions of the upper eyelid in order to achieve symmetry and to determine the exact amount of skin that can be safely removed without compromising your ability to close your eyelids. These careful steps will lead to the best aesthetic and functional result. If bulging fat of the upper eyelid is also present then a precise removal or redistribution of fat will be performed to avoid creating an over-resected hollow appearance of the upper eyelids. Lower eyelid surgery on men focuses on addressing prolapsed fat. The eyelid fat can be trimmed through an “invisible” inner lower eyelid incision or the bulging fat is sometimes preserved and transferred into hollow deficient areas. If a significant skin laxity of the lower eyelid is present this can be improved with laser resurfacing or chemical peels.

At the time of the preoperative consultation Dr. Kopelman and his nursing staff will review your medical history including all medications, supplements and homeopathic drugs that you should avoid prior to surgery. Dr. Kopelman strongly recommends that all anticoagulant medications be discontinued two weeks prior to your scheduled procedure. The list of drugs to avoid is extensive and we will provide you with that list. A partial list includes aspirin (including baby aspirin), Advil, Motrin, all non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, fish oil, vitamin E (which may be contained in your multiple vitamins) and many other drugs and supplements. A complete blood count will also help our staff determine whether you have adequate platelets needed for coagulation.
