A cheek implant can permanently replace mid-facial volume loss and raise the sagging tissues over the cheek. The midface, the area below the lower eyelid and cheeks, loses volume as we age. Our faces may look aged, fatigued, sunken, gaunt, and the hollows of the lower eyelid and grooves surrounding the mouth may become more pronounced.
Our cheekbones give us the “blush” of youth. As we age though it is natural for us to lose volume in our cheeks. This lost volume is the result of atrophy of skin and fat with a downward descent of facial fat pads. There may also be a loss of bone and decreased muscle contributing to the lost volume. In young patients with mild degrees of mid-facial atrophy a deep injection of a hyaluronic gels like Juvederm Voluma, Restylane Lyft, or a polylactic acid solution called Sculptra can temporarily restore facial soft tissue volume. However, if you are seeking a more long term solution to correcting a flattening of the midface cheek implants are a great option. They are usually made of flexible silicone or other synthetic material.

To achieve the best cheek augmentation in New York City, Dr. Kopelman will thoroughly review your facial skin, soft tissues, skeletal structure and discuss your desires and expectations. The cheek implants vary in size and shape and the specific implant that Dr. Kopelman selects is based upon your unique facial features. Finding the right fit for you will be critical in order to achieve great results.
Dr. Kopelman makes a small concealed incision inside your mouth that will give Dr. Kopelman the ability to slip the cheek implant into position onto the cheek bone. The implant will conform to the underlying bone so that it naturally fits into position. The mouth incision is sutured closed with absorbable suture. You will be placed on oral antibiotics and mouthwash for five days. The face will remain swollen for approximately one week.
