Botoxin New York City

Botox is a neuromodulator toxin better known as (botulinum toxin A) that is approved to be used for cosmetic injections to freeze facial muscles. Botox acts as a neurotransmitter that temporarily inhibits the chemical signals that cause your facial muscles to form wrinkles.

The result of this “temporary facial freeze” is that your muscle will not contract as frequently thereby reducing the formation of wrinkles and deep lines that you normally form. The wrinkles that we form on our face are due to constant facial muscle contractions from the years spent throughout the day smiling or squinting while in the sun. Botox offers a solution to relax our facial muscles and restore it to a more natural state. The neuromodulator is injected in areas of the face where you would commonly form wrinkles which include your forehead (glabella), brow, neck lines, and crows feet (around your eyes). Dr. Kopelman has been injecting Botox in New York City for decades and understands the subtle details required to achieve symmetrical natural results so that you don’t end up with a “frozen” face. Botox is an option for men and women starting in their mid 20’s seeking quick non-invasive ways to enhance their appearance without undergoing surgery.

Botox in NYC with Dr. Joel Kopelman

Dr. Kopelman was one of the first physicians in the country to use Botox. In fact, he has been using it in clinical practice for close to thirty years and was designated as a national training site to instruct other physicians on how to inject Botox safely. Dr. Kopelman is a recognized expert in injecting Botox. He has authored several original research papers demonstrating the efficacy and safety of Botox. For over thirty five years he has perfected the most advanced Botox techniques to treat a multitude of cosmetic problems.

Dr. Kopelman was one of the first plastic surgeons in the U.S. to use Botox to help his patients decrease facial wrinkles and spasms.

Botox Procedure

A Botox procedure takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes to complete, short enough to complete during a lunch break. In order to minimize discomfort, Dr. Kopelman will apply a topical lidocaine anesthetic numbing cream to the areas that will be treated. After ten minutes a tiny needle is used to inject Botox into the muscle groups that are producing the overlying wrinkles.
After your treatment, you can immediately return to work or your daily activities. It takes approximately 48 to 72 hours for the Botox to work so do not expect immediate results the day you get the treatment. As you may know Botox injections are not a permanent way to eliminate wrinkles, therefore you should expect the benefits to last 3 to 4 months. Every patient is different, but once the muscles begin contracting again, it is safe to schedule a new treatment. The general rule that Dr. Kopelman recommends is that you should routinely get Botox two to three times a year to continue to maintain the benefits of the drug. If you decide to stop receiving the Botox treatments then the wrinkles and creases will re-appear.

Where to Get Botox Injections on Your Face?

Forehead Lines

Horizontal lines form on your forehead as a result of repeatedly raising the eyebrows. The forehead can be neutralized with a neurotoxin to create a less exaggerated facial expression that forms these wrinkles.

Eyebrow Lift

As we age, our brow tends to weaken and fall. A Botox brow lift will help to elevate the height of your eyebrows without the immediate need for surgery whereas a surgical brow lift would be a long term fix.

Crow’s Feet

The formation of wrinkles around your eyes is due to constant squinting and smiling. The deep wrinkles that form in this region can be addressed with Botox injections.

Bunny Lines

Crinkling of your nose when you laugh forms these bunny lines. The nasal muscles can be dampened by injecting a bit of Botox on both sides of your nose.

Glabellar Lines

Glabellar lines aka frown lines are the wrinkles that form between your eyebrows. Botox will help to smooth out these deep wrinkles.

Chin Dimples

Chin dimples are the result of the overactive mentalis muscle. When you inject the area with Botox the area smooths out reducing the chin indentation.

How does Botox work?

Botox inhibits facial muscle contractions which create overlying wrinkles and dimples.

Recommended number of Botox treatments?

Just one session is usually necessary for optimal results. Occasionally patients return within a week to reassure them that the Botox has treated all areas of concern.

What will I look like after a Botox treatment?

Your facial muscles will not be frozen. The remainder of your facial muscles will animate normally and you will have facial expressions that will appear natural. The elimination of frown lines and wrinkles will project a more positive image.

Is Botox safe?

Dr. Kopelman was one of the first physicians in the country to use Botox. In fact, he has been using clinical practice for close to thirty years and was designated as a national training site to instruct other physicians on how to inject Botox safely. Although Botox are all purified proteins called botulinum “toxin” these injections have been found to be very safe in millions of patients. The rare time that these medications were found to be unsafe was when the product was made as a“home-brew” and injected into a patient.
